Preparing for Your First Visit

Arriving at a doctor’s office for the first time often feels overwhelming from finding your way around a new building to filling out patient forms and paperwork. To help you feel more comfortable before your visit, the Action Chiropractic team has put together the list of forms  and insurance information you’ll need prior to your first appointment. You can fill these out from the comfort of your home before arrival!

We have also created a typical appointment itinerary of what you can expect on your first visit and follow-up appointment.

First Visit: Patient Consultation + Examination

Your first visit typically takes around 30 minutes. It will give us the chance to get to know you and to see what brings you into Action Chiropractic. As with any first doctor’s appointment, we will request information about you, your family history, and any factors that may be causing you to experience discomfort. We will also discuss any health-related concerns, and learn more about what your expectations are so that we can determine if you will benefit from chiropractic care. We strive to be your health advocate, and our goal is to make sure you get all of your questions answered and are comfortable moving forward.

After your patient consultation, Dr. Chris will perform a complete chiropractic examination that includes an orthopedic, neurological, postural, and physical exam. These exams test your reflexes and your ability to move, helping Dr. Chris locate which part of the body and nerve location is generating your discomfort.

Please note: Your condition may require us to take x-rays. X-rays help us rule out more serious conditions, and allow us to develop the best treatment plan for you.

Follow-up Consultation: Review + Treatment

After reviewing your health history and exam results, Dr. Chris will sit down with you, one-on-one, to discuss his treatment recommendations. At this time, Dr. Chris will tell you if he believes you are a good candidate for chiropractic care or if he feels strongly that you may benefit from another health care provider.

If you are a good candidate for chiropractic care, Dr. Chris will provide you with your first treatment after going over recommendations. Treatments may include chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, and/or massage therapy. Dr. Chris utilizes the Thompson, Diversified, and Activator techniques.

After treatment, Dr. Chris will go over your custom care plan that can be continued at home. This may include ice or heat, stretching, therapeutic exercise routine, or nutritional suggestions.
